Well, spring break is waning. I’ve been taking full advantage of being home, easily reverting back into SAHM mode. It’s a very nice change. My daughter and I have spent the entire time together, just doing everyday things, but together.
The big deal of the week was my husband’s tonsillectomy on Thursday. We all got up bright-and-early so that we would be at the outpatient surgery center at the assigned 6:30 a.m. His surgery only took about 30 minutes and went well. Since then I’ve been fixing him milkshakes and giving him his pain medication. My daughter has also been a great nurse, making sure that his ice pack (that wraps around his neck) is refreshed frequently.
On the school front, a couple of professors have taken steps to be sure we don’t forget them during our week off. One of the neuroanatomy professors actually emailed us reading assignments for spring break. I think she was just trying to help us get ready for the following week, but the email wasn’t exactly what I wanted to see! Then the MIS professor posted an assignment online. Being a neurotic student, I took time this week to get it done, even though it isn’t due until April 8.
Unfortunately, I’ve really needed to do some serious studying over the break. We have an MIS exam the Tuesday after we get back and neuro & micro the week after (they actually end up being 3 exams on 3 consecutive days). The MIS won’t be bad, but the 3 tests the next week will take significant preparation time. I did spend some time making a study sheet for MIS and looking over some of the practice questions the professor posted online, but I won’t really study for that until Sunday or Monday. Micro consists of a multitude of random facts about bacteria and fungi, so I’ve been making flash cards to study from. I’m done with the bacteriology part, but barely started on the mycology (fungi). I need to get them done so that I can focus my attention on neuro. Of course, I haven’t actually cracked open a neuro book yet…I think I’ve used the other tests as an excuse to avoid it. That will have to end tomorrow evening. I’m going to break away from my SAHM mode and go back to school so that I can seriously study. Thus, spring break will reach an early end.
