Spring break is long gone, 5 tests ago, in fact. Things have been plugging along and keeping me busy. Lately we’ve actually had a few homework assignments, of all things. Next week we have a history and physical (H & P) due for our clinical skills class. We’re supposed to do a full H & P on a classmate, leaving out things like genital & breast exams. My study partner and I are working together on this, of course, but it is rather time consuming. I got a second year student to email me hers from last year so that we could use it as a model. It will hopefully save us considerable time, since it is due on Monday and we haven’t done it yet.

This past week we had a HIPPA training session. New federal patient privacy regulations are going into effect and the training is federally mandated. This will be a big adjustment for the medical community, but they keep telling us that we’ll be trained “right” from the beginning.

We also had the emergency medicine club officer elections. The elections have been scheduled and re-scheduled multiple times due to various conflicts. They ended up having an email election. I was running for president of the club against 2 classmates, one of whom is a friend of mine. I ended up losing to my friend, which really isn’t too bad of a deal. I still plan on helping out.

Next week we actually don’t have any tests! Unfortunately, finals start in about 3 weeks so I really need to start preparing for them.
