Melissa's Diary

Amazingly, my semester is quickly coming to a close! Thanksgiving break is a nice diversion for a few days, but I know that come Monday I’ll only have a week to prepare for finals.

Things have continued to move along at a rapid pace. I’ve been trying keep up decently in each class…since I’ll be having 4 exams in 4 days there won’t be any catch-up time to cram between tests. I’ve got my exam study materials ready for biochemistry and osteopathic clinical skills, but I’ll have to work steadily to prepare for anatomy and histology. I told my husband that after this weekend I’ll pretty much be gone and will see him again on December 12th. Maybe it is a bit of an exaggeration, but I’m afraid its not much of one. My histology grade is pretty much set (I need to prepare, but I can’t really lower or raise it.), but the others definitely need lots of time studying. I should be able to keep my B in anatomy, but I don’t want to do something stupid on the final to lose it. In biochemistry I’m trying to bring myself up a couple of points to change my letter grade. Osteopathic clinical skills is completely up-in-the-air because our final is worth 59% of the semester grade so I really doesn’t matter what you have right now…the final will set your grade.

Tensions have been getting a bit higher at school, but so far people are still getting along okay. I imagine that there will be some conflicts in the coming week. Should be interesting. My study partner and I have been trying to help a classmate that is struggling in a couple of classes. The challenge is to help her without disrupting our own studying. We’ll see how it goes next week: I don’t want to blow her off, but I also can’t afford to let her slow me down. Seems a bit cold, I imagine, but it’s quite truthful. I do hope that it’ll work out, though, because I’d love to see her pass her classes.

Things at home have been going okay, but I think it is starting to wear on my daughter. A few days ago she said that she wanted me to just be her mom so that she could be with me. Broke my heart!! I explained that Christmas break is coming soon and I’ll have a few weeks straight with her. Honestly, the semester is wearing on me, too, and I’m looking forward to the break.
