Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anyone has heard of this plan:
Graduate, take a year off to have a baby, then start intern year. If so, would you wait to go through the match until the next year?

Thanks in advance smile

Certainly can be done.

FYI: as a physician you will be credentialed (basically background-checked) by hospitals, clinics, and insurance companies that you have a relationship with. You will have to account for all of the time from when you entered medical school on. Taking time off to have a kid is not a problem, but they will expect you to tell them why you took a year off.

Does anyone know how this would affect matching?
