Hello,
I was hoping I could get some advice on planning 3rd and 4th year rotations. I am currently in the middle of my second year of medical school and have narrowed down my choice of residency to two (ok, maybe three programs). According to Iserson's Getting Into A Residency book students should not do rotations at their desired residency location unless it is a requirement for acceptance or if they are stellar(top of their class). I am close at this point, but would not want to mess up my chances of impressing the people who will be judging me. Iserson's logic is that if you do an 'ok' job during a 4-6 week rotation, the committee may be more likely to look at a new applicant who could 'do better'. I am a little confused as to how best plan third year at this point. I would be grateful for any advice.
Thank you and I hope you all have a Happy Holiday!!
