Hi everybody,
I am a mom of one beautiful daughter, and I will be starting at AZCOM in the fall.
I would really like to have a mentor, particularly a woman physician, any specialty, altho' as of late I am leaning towards becoming a neonatologist.
I am a little older than most of the other students, as I am a returning student who originally majored in the classics. I was wondering how women could balance being a doc with being a mom, and also what kind of sexism might be out there.
Also, anyone who has any information about DOs and their career possibilities would be great.
Thank you so much for reading this, and hope to hear from you soon.
Christina

Greetings, Mom of one.
I am a mom of 2, now8 and 10. I graduated from Penn State College of Med in 1984 (sounds so long ago).
Yes, you can have it all. I am an Internist in a big group practice in New Orleans. Stayed at the same place I did residency. I have just now switched to part-time practice - it was not an option when my kids were born. Now I start at 7am and see my last patient at 2:15. Try to leave the office to get home when the kids get out of school. My husband is an Internist in solo practice. He gets up with the kids. We hired help - a great housekeeper, with us for years. Life is great. Email me if you have questions!
