hello, i am a first year pre med student. i was just wondering what people think about the medical education process. I just had a few questions. Input is greatly appreciated:
1. why do you think we have to go through so much schooling, and is it worth it in the long run.
2. Do you think your college education will/did prepare you for all aspects of becoming a resident/intern/doctor, including socially, academically, and psychologically.
3. How did you know you really wanted to be a doctor?
4. For those who are in med school, or are doctors, was it what you expected?
5. What advise would you give to us that are starting out at the bottom?
6. What characteristics must a person have to be successful as a doctor?

Thanx for your input!!

1. Going through all of that schooling id definitely necessary...and if we did not do it, then there would be no reral difference between being an MD or being a physician's assistant- we would have no greater qualifictaions!
2.No college education would prepare you for being a resident or an attending physician...it really matters on who you are as a person to begin with ( are you a go-getter, willing to do anything it takes , etc.)
3. I juts sgned up at 16 and went with the idea- when you'reyoung it just sounds scientifcially "cool"...you never really know what it means until you are in the thick of it
4.Bacially what I expected...but never imagine the petty, immature BS that goe son that makes your days miserable It is back to 7th grade some days
5.Starting off at the bottom- always aim for an A plus, bc most of the time you won;'t get it; always keep your chin up; don't show too many weaknesses around those you cannot trust- they'll trample on you on the way up the ladder..study study study...
