How about by the beach? Santa Monica, there's that parking at the end of Ocean Park 2 hours for 2 dollars. We could all bring a sack lunch, kids or no kids and chill??

Let's work out the details. Does anyone want to help organize anything? I'm inclined to keep it really simple. Just brown bag it and everyone bring their own lunch and drinks, and a blanket to sit on.. Can you RSVP on this thread. I will buy balloons in MomMD colors so we can see ourselves!

Also, if it's raining for some reason everyone can call this number 310 289 2149 and I'll leave instructions whether cancelled or still on.

Just so we have an idea of numbers, who is coming??

If it's raining we can always move to one of the restaurants in the area. I doubt that it will actually rain, but if that's the forecast, we can decide on an alternative in advance. It may also be a little too cold on the beach...

Last time (3 years) ago we held a MomMD meet at a restaurant, cost precluded many people from coming and although we had a firm RSVP for 12 people only 4 showed up (we had reserved a special area which I had to cover the costs even though there were no shows). Beach is free, if cold, bring some sweaters!!

Rain plans, we can do a restaurant but we'll need DEFINITE numbers and collect money for a large party.

If people want to pay some money upfront I can look into booking somewhere? Thoughts?

P.S. If parking in that lot is full (it shouldn't be), there is another short term parking north of that location. Instead of turning left onto Barnard Way, turn right and then left into the short term parking several yards up. You'll have to walk south towards the blue cafe to find us.

Sethina, i'm formerly extending the invite to our resident moms and med school group at ucla (called Bump). some are mommd members - some are not, but perhaps if they go and see there's a community, they'll officially join. a few didn't even know about mommd. when is the absolute last day you need a count?

GREAT STUFF! Now we're are down to the final days. Bring your lunch, blankets to sit, cameras, beach toys for kids and have fun. I will be wearing a MomMD t-shirt. Does anyone have any ideas where we could meet in case of rain?

I'll have MomMD balloons there. There is a cafe nearby if no-one has time to bring lunch.

P.S. I have just checked the weather forecast and there is a slight chance of rain for saturday :no: - so let's monitor this closely. If heavy rain we will postpone the event. If you are traveling a long way, let's meet at a local coffee shop or hotel cafe. Unless anyone has any other ideas? But let's assume that things will be fine!

Brunch at the beach was GREAT. Thanks so much for coming. We had 5 members and their family. It was really nice to meet you in person. We sat there and ate fruit (thanks Israeligirl), muffins and chatted in beautiful sunny weather. Sorry to make you all jealous it was about 75!!

The beach was beautiful! I can't believe I've lived here my entire life and never knew about that little jewel! I will be bringing my friends and family back to that little area in the future. And it was so *neat* to actually meet everyone...and put faces (and smiles...and real names) to everyone!! We absolutely have to do that again sometime...soon. And, Sethina, before you leave.
