So we have exactly 13 days and an hour or so until winter break. Two whole weeks without modules, lecture notes, or studying.

Problem is, I can't seem to find the motivation to study/stay on task the past few days. Good intentions, but never seem to accomplish what I need to...

Anyone have words of wisdom (or swift kick) to help me through this????

Oh, it is so worth it. The rush of not being a total idiot and knowing stuff in 3rd year is so, so, so worth it. A resident saying "good job" because I knew something (this happened today) is so worth it. Being able to contribute to a patient's care is so worth it. Having the sense to present all of the pertinent details about a patient even if I have no idea what's going on (even if I should) so that the attending easily knows what to do next. Frequently I do find myself thinking "if I'd only remembered X, I'd be able to know/do Y." And there are days where I feel like I don't really know anything. Just do the best you can! M3 is great.... once you've successfully completed M1&2!

Thanks twinmom! I cannot even express how much I am looking forward to third year- everything we are learning is interesting, but I want to apply it!

I finally gave up today and went to urgent care... my youngest has had a cold for three weeks and her breathing has been getting more and more difficult this week. I also had this cold that would not go away. Apparently I have a sinus infection and my ears are all plugged up, and baby girl also has a sinus infection (poor thing is so young, just about three!).

So apparently, I may be feeling a little more motivated in a few days with antibiotics on board for both of us.

Ahhhhhhh... the life of a mom in med school! wink

SW,
Sorry I didn't see your post until now. I hope things improved for you after a few days of rest, antibiotics and perspective. I am in the middle of procrastinating during my last night of studying before the break and yes, it is hard to stay motivated sometimes. Have a wonderful, relaxing holiday.

Just getting back to things now... we have Anatomy this semester, which peaks my interest. I was actually shocked that the smell was not that bad- just takes a few minutes to get used to. Our bodies are truly awe-inspiring.

STILL have a sinus infection. Tired to boot. But no exams for a few weeks, so it's off to bed early tonight.
