I am searching for someone to mentor me through a process of re-entering the field of psychiatry after not working the 15 years since completion of my residency.

I'm just finishing, so I'm nowhere near a mentor. Have you contacted/ searched the APA or speciality websites? I think there is a new idea to do more electronic and local mentorship, so maybe you can get connected that way. Good luck!

Hi, new to this site. I am a radiology mom (breast imaging) who has been working in private practice for 2yrs. Having experienced years of grueling extensive training (like everyone else), apathy and in-fighting from colleagues, and the ever present threat of litigation, I now find myself wondering if it was all worth it. I saddens me to think that I may have wasted so many years in training only to now find myself dreading going to work every day. Lately, I have been thinking about a non-clinical transiton &/ or public health. Has anyone tried this? Any advice or mentorship for either sticking it out in clinical radiology or doing something else? Any comments are greatly appreciated.

My husband (former physician) has a significant amount of experience mentoring/coaching/guiding physician through this type of transition. I'd encourage you to visit his site: http://www.nonclinicaljobs.com/

I wish you the best if you make that transition.
