Have been away for 10 months... First private practice group experience awful. Partners were non communicative, aggressive and competitive over patients, etc.
I had a complication with a patient and it was used to break my contract.
Confidence shattered... Am seeking a way to do some supervised retraining to get back into profession. Any ideas??

I wouldn't think you would need retraining if you have been out for less than a year.

I agree, you could do some locums work perhaps. I know they will help employ physicians who have been out for sometimes up to 2 years. You might also be able to volunteer at a free clinic just to help keep up clinical skills. Malpractice can usually be arranged with state health department for this.

I agree with mai tai. You shouldn't need any kind of retraining after only 10 months.

But, how in the world were they able to break your contract over a complication? Who hasn't had a complication before? I worked for two practices before opening my own and there was nothing in the contracts allowing them to dismiss me for a complication. You may want to check to see if you have any legal recourse.
