Hello,

A professor is writing a letter of rec on my behalf for my medical school application.

Would you think it's more beneficial for her to mention that I am a mother in the letter, or is it better to leave it out?

The letter itself would be mostly about my activities and my time as a student, so it would not be centered around the fact that I'm a mom. She did feel that it's worth mentioning since it shows i have time management skills, etc.

I had my son at a young age and still did well in college and was involved in different things, so I do see it as a big accomplishment. On the other hand I know medical school is more traditional and not sure how they would view that.

I won't be talking about motherhood or my child in my personal essay, per the recommendation of many people on here and elsewhere. Just wondering if it's different since someone else will be mentioning it about me. Also, I assume it will come out in interviews that I have a child since I took a semester off.

Thank you!
