I've realized that a lot of what I'd kind of like to talk about on this forum I find myself editing heavily, because I feel like my background / position is rare enough that if someone actually knew me, it would be extremely easy to recognize me in these posts. And although I'm not totally obsessive about online privacy, I try to be a little careful, especially as regards professional life, and anything to do with family.

Which all led me to wonder... has the idea of having locked portions of this forum ever been floated? I totally understand that there's a strong desire to collect threads that can be useful to people dropping in who need help with these issues. But, at the same time, it would be pretty valuable to me to have a more protected place to discuss some of these issues, as well. Thoughts?

And, apologies if this has been discussed before. I figured it likely had, but I had trouble coming up with good search terms, and didn't come up with anything....

There used to be a private forum (hardly ever used). Did it disappear with the move to the new MomMD? I guess you could start a thread in "blogs and diaries for members only" but even that is not entirely private.

We currently have diary/blog forum that can only be viewed by members (you should be able to see it when logged in, it's called Blogs & Diaries for Members Only).

If there is an interest by 5 or more members, we can open a new members only discussion forum.

I'll put up a poll - if 5 vote for it in the next week, we'll open one.

Did we get enough?
