SW, I feel your pain! This was the phone conversation I had this morning:

Me: "Hi, I'm 1 week postpartum and I've had a fever since last night."
Nurse line RN: "Have you taken Tylenol? You should really take Tylenol for that fever."
Me: "Um, I think I have mastitis."
RN: "Well, just stay hydrated and massage your breast. You don't need to come in. Just take Tylenol."

Okey dokey then....

you have got to be kidding me. A postpartum fever definitely needs a visit. I hope you got in... and this is not medical advice.

I thought I'd update-my baby girl was born April 19-she's now 3.5 months old and growing so fast. We had a rough delivery-I was induced and only had 10 hrs of labor but 3.5 of pushing, 3 attempts at the epidural and a pretty bad tear. Then at 1 week post-partum I was admitted with pre-eclampsia and got mag for 24hrs-so not fun! But she is totally worth it-I am so in love We've had a hard time with the breastfeeding-I have a good supply (thank goodness), but she has struggled with latching from day 1. So far she's been getting all breastmilk and hopefully we can keep it up! Gosh I never expected breastfeeding to be so hard-she's had a few "nursing strikes" which were really heartbreaking.

I start back to residency Monday and its gonna be so hard to leave her, but luckily we have family nearby who will be watching her.

Good luck to all of you ladies still waiting to meet your little ones-it is truly the most amazing and best thing I have ever done!

Sw to MD-that is why I treat most of my kids' ear infections. They always seem to happen on weekends or holidays!!

With G-d's help, we had a beautiful baby boy on Monday!

My birth story is pretty unremarkable, except that I was induced for being post dates. After getting me going, my OB proceeded to go into labor herself and delivered 1/2 hour before me! Her partner managed to get to the hospital 4 minutes before mine was born.

The nurses had a great time with us. Neither one of us has ever had so much attention after delivering, but the excitement of having 2 doctors in one room was a huge draw. We had someone coming in to "check on us" every hour or so while we were there.

Wow - what a story! That had to be an entertaining time for the staff and both of you!
