Hello everyone!

I'm new to this forum and I wanted to say hi. My name's Melissa, I'm 25 years old, and ever since graduation from high school, I have obsessed over being a doctor. That said, I was terrified of pre-med in undergrad, so I majored in International Relations.

After graduation, I joined the Peace Corps, where I headed down to Panama and worked in Environmental Health (which only made me regret majoring in International Relations!). I also met my husband, a Panamanian doctor, and got married to the best guy in the world.

Now I'm back in the States, and I am SO ready to start my medical school prerequisites. I am 25 now, so hopefully I'll have them done and be enrolled in med school by the time I'm 28.

I graduated from Loyola Chicago, and currently live in the city, so my eye is definitely on UIC (hellllooo, in-state tuition), as well as my Alma Mater, and other schools around the area.

I'm not a mom yet, but it's definitely in the back of my mind, and I'm trying to figure out when would be the best time to have my kid(s). My husband is currently learning English, so that he can take his USMLE Steps I, II CK and II CS, and get a residency, hopefully within these next three years.

It's been an adventure, for sure, but medical school is non-negotiable for me at this point, and I'm SO excited to finally have the balls to make my dream a reality!
