Let's hear 'em.

Mine:

Personal: buy a treadmill and use it
Professional: read NEJM every week and CJASN every month

Personal: Have a healthy baby.

Professional: Have a healthy baby despite work life.

Errrr... is that a little too focused? Pregnancy is getting more stressful, methinks....

Personal: eat better - CONSISTENTLY. I usually go in spurts of eating well for weeks, then like crap for weeks, and so on. I need to not do that. Get more exercise, somehow, every day. Try to be a better wife and mother. It's going to be a busy year and a critical time for the baby. I know I will miss some things, but I want to give my baby the illusion that I didn't.

Professional: Get at least an "Advanced" (= high pass) in all of my rotations left. Ideally an honors, but will take an advanced on some. Do a kick-ass anesthesia M4 rotation. Complete ERAS with as little stress as possible. Try to get as many interviews as I can!

Personal:
1. spend as much time with my kids just having fun
2. make sure my amazing husband knows how much I love and appreciate him
3. lose the baby weight. well, at least keep going in the right direction- with 4-10# babies in 7 years, this may be a multi-year project! But I am down 20# in three months, so that is a start!
4. laugh, dance, and learn not to sweat the small stuff

Professional:
1. pass Step 1 with an acceptable score (yet-to-be-defined in my head)
2. feel good about the knowledge base I have heading into rotations
3. HAVE FUN WITH ROTATIONS!!!! Woot-woot! (Can you tell I am excited to finally feel somewhat purposeful again?! And talk to people? And see concepts applied to reality vs. random scenarios?)

2012 is going to be a great year laugh

SW-I have some very similar personal goals:)!

Personal:

1) Finish loosing the baby weight. All of it. I want to weigh what I weighed on my wedding for my 10th anniversary.
2) Be fabulous at 40 and actually like what I see in the mirror-that means toning!!
3) Have fun with the kids-more unplanned, family time. Play those board games we have that never come out.
4) reconnect with some friends that I have lost touch with and visit some of them
5) Start playing the piano again
6) Do more scrapbooking

Professional
1) Start obesity group visits at the office
2) Be more organized with my med student stuff-I got a start on this this past weekend
3) Submit something to STFM
4) Possibly get involved with the residency OB rotation

Personal:
Make every minute with my son(s) count by being fully there
Clean and organize house and keep it that way (I'm nesting)
One date a week with husband
Always come out saving money each month and work towards my financial goal (6 months emergency fund, vacation/house maintanance fund, save for college)
Exercise everyday. After delivery, once weekly at the rock gym for social life and getting back in climbing shape. Hang the hang board.
See friends once weekly.

Professional:
Read more journals
Review something each work day
Keep/improve technical skills by reviewing and practicing on a regular basis
Be OK with taking a back seat on the leadership front; it is not a crime to go part time to spend with family

Have you guys read this link? My husband and I liked #9 (and definitely #6) so much that we each started a list on a wipe-board in our kitchen:

(Credit to FreshMD, Martina Scholtens:)
"9. Three projects. At any given time, I have three projects on the go that require one to two weeks to complete. One relates to work, one to home and one to something creative. For example, I might apply for a research grant, order a coffee table and frame some of my photos for our front entry. No new projects can be tackled until all of the original three are completed. (See zenhabits for more.)"

So, here we go:

Work: Submit to my specialty's medical journal. (Next: Clock in some quality chart-review hours for a study I'm working on.)

Home: Use vacation month to deep-clean house and amass a hefty Goodwill pile. (Next: Plan a fun day trip with my girls.)

Creative: Include family in residency-planning-consider taking DD#1 on a second look, have fun "planning our lives" with hubby. (Next: knit DD#2 a hat with ridiculous yarn.)

Y'all are so ambitious. My resolutions tend to be things like "drink more V8" or "get regular facials". Once I resolved to stop losing my keys.

My resolutions this year:

Eat more chocolate. Drink better red wine than the $3.92 bottle at Walmart.

For seriousness:
Put together a fantastic Anesthesia app for residency.
Be prepared for everything coming up. Or try to be.
Kick Step 2CK's butt.
Get into residency somewhere (civ-deferred) that my husband is super excited about going to because he deserves it.
