My husband (surg) and I had a miscarriage last year and have been TTC since then. We've had a complete infertility w/u which was negative for both of us, and now I'm on Clomid.

I suspect stress and lack of sleep are probably playing some role in this (among other things)...

Is anyone in a similar situation (or been in this situation and made it to the other side)?

CEpeds--I haven't been in your situation, but I wanted to post since no one has yet. Hopefully, someone will post soon. I just wanted to say that I know many people including family members that have struggled with infertility and many times there was no known cause. There are definitely those that make it to the other side-- my two beautiful nephews (via IVF) are examples of that. Just don't give up hope and let your doctors know about your concerns-- they can give you realistic stats that can allay your fears. You did get pregnant last year so hold onto that fact. Please keep us updated on your progress.

Keep up hope. My husband and I were in the same boat. We had a very early miscarriage the first month we tried, then it took a year to get pregnant again and now we have a little boy who was just born. We got pregnant the month we visited the doctor to start the infertility w/u. I was in my first year in med school, so stress probably played a role as well. Like 'English' said, you did conceive once, which is a good sign. One month at a time - I know it's difficult to get so many negatives before the big positive.

Been there CEpeds, esp with the negative workups. We ended up doing IVF and I now have a 2-month old I adore. A couple we are very good friends with ended up with twins from Clomid, so be careful what you ask for

Those are such encouraging stories! Most of the time I rationally know it will work out, but sometimes it's so hard to deal with something so out of my control. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the Clomid works for us!

Another success story: my first son was conceived via IVF when I was a medical student. I recently gave birth to a second son, conceived the old fashioned (and much cheaper) way, sometime between my CCU and MICU months as an R2 in IM. So stress isn't a total deal breaker.

We were a bit anxious about having a baby. We waited a year and then went to a RE for help. Maybe if we waited longer it would have happened naturally.

We're going to try the old-fashioned way again in 2 years
