Hi Everybody, Happy Labor Day! cool Labor Day makes me think of two things - 1st, giving birth! 2nd, our work. I am wondering, who, if anybody, has a "perfect practice" ? When you decided Medicine was your destiny, you were probably thinking about helping people, promoting healing, reducing suffering, etc. You were probably NOT thinking about billing, managed care, office staff, etc. But this is a very real aspect of health care - and as health care professionals, we are business people!

SOOOO - my question to MomMDrs - if you are currently in private or group practice, if you work for a medical corporation, or if you are on your way to practicing medicine, what makes YOUR "PERFECT PRACTICE" ??? Who are your patients? What is your day like? What makes your practice "perfect?" AND -- what makes you cRaZy??? eek

Looking forward to hearing from all of you!

Patients who say, "I'm sad you weren't in the office/able to stay late/come in early to see me the other day, but I think it's so cool that you're a mom and a physician! I'm so glad you're my doctor!"

Partners who say, "I know you're not in the office as much as I am, but I want to treat you like I would want my wife to be treated if she was in this group working part-time."

So - regarding the "Perfect Practice," sounds like it can be a two-sided coin - on the one hand, when you are a part-time doc and a full-time mom you have needs that HAVE to be met, but there can be some guilt about not being able to be all things to all people, i.e. patients and partners! :boggled:

Anybody old enough to remember the "PushMe-PullYOu?" Does this sound like itA???
