For those of you applying this year you may want to consider applying to Mayo. Mayo has a small class size of 42 students so you get tons of individualized attention and many resources at your fingertips. It has one of the lowest if not the lowest average debt for medical students in the nation and their board scores are well above the average year after year. Rochester is a great place for those of us with children and has been ranked as one of the best cities to live in by US News (cannot remember for what years though). The faculty to student ratio is one of the highest in the nation, and faculty that teach at Mayo volunteer to do so...and there is a waiting list to teach. If you would like to see more in the life of an MS1 at Mayo go to
http://www.mayo.edu/mms/ and at the bottom click on "A day in the life..." it will give you a glimpse of what MS1 will entail at Mayo. I will be posting my experiences as I go through them periodically on this thread. Good luck to all of you applying this cycle! you are almost there
