Does anyone have any experience with this specialty? What types of jobs are available in the field? I'm finishing up my PGY2 in a field I'm not enjoying as much as I thought I would. I remember loving a PM rotation as a med student and am thinking of switching.

Hi -

I'm a PM doc in the Navy - graduated in 2008. I do a lot of work in travel medicine, outbreak investigations, and surveillance research. There are civilian docs who work as contractors for the military who do similar work too. I also did rotations with Homeland Security and state/city health departments, which was interesting. What rotations have you done?

Next year I'll apply for an EIS fellowship with the CDC, to do similar work, but for non-uniformed populations.

You can email me off-line for a more in depth conversation!
