    • Who did you use for your OB?
    • Hi guys, I am a PGY1 and just found out I'm pregnant. I am in the process of choosing a doctor. Our program provided insurance covers more of the cost if we use our own facilities, this would also be more convenient for me as I will be at the clinic a lot anyway and wouldn't have to travel elsewhere for appointments. But I have reservations having an attending as my provider. I know they are professionals, I just wonder if it would be weird for me, rounding/working with him or her, knowing...

    • Can MD moms have it all??
    • Welcome! I have not been in that situation, but I imagine the first place to start would be at your old residency because they already know you. When you left residency, did you take a leave of absence, or did you quit? Did you finish step 3 (because there is a deadline for that)? There are working doctors out there who have only completed internship, but it is becoming harder and harder for people to get a good job without completing a whole residency (unless they are mid-levels, but I...

    • Name change after divorce
    • Hi all, It has been eons since I have been on - life happens, you know? - but I hope everyone has been doing well! I'm dealing with an internal conundrum and am looking for some other perspectives to see if that might help me make up my mind. I just got divorced - it's a good thing, very difficult obviously, but needed to happen. I am now a single mother because my ex moved out of state, sees DD once a month, and is otherwise not in contact, but that is another thread... In any case, when we...

    • Motivated and yet still scared... RN to MD
    • I don't want to be discouraging, but you might want to re-think switching from nursing to medicine. You have a career but if you hate it--you might not like medicine any more. Your regular life interfered with getting an A in chemistry. If your regular life interferes with medical school or residency, no slack is cut. Although things are supposed to be easier these days, i tend to doubt it. Medicine is an age-old "boys club"--and pretty hard on women--especially if the woman has any...

Hospitalist Jobs in Houston, Texas

Hospitalist jobs in Houston usually have as a stipulation Hospitalist board certification (or eligibility) and an up-to-date Texas medical license. Doing a Hospitalist residency or fellowship in Texas is often helpful because it implies the physician is aware of TX licensure requirements.

Hospitalist salaries for the south region of the U.S., including Houston, TX, run around $229,933. By comparison the country's average Hospitalist salary is $211,835, meaning Hospitalist jobs in Houston pay around 108.5% of the national mean.

Because of unique insurance and liability laws of Texas, attention should be paid to topics like state tort reform proposals.

Equally important, the effect of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act on reimbursement rates for Hospitalist practices is unknown.
