Mr. and Dr.? Dr. and Mr.?

This is really my dh's question and I am a little curious. When someone addresses something to you like an invitation to a wedding or graduation, how do they put it on the envelope? It seems weird even to me to say Mr. So-and-So and Dr. So-and-so, and even weirder to put the Dr. title before the Mr. Can we just leave it Mr. and Mrs.?
I'm sure this is silly...we're just wondering. :boxedin:

I've gotten all kinds of addresses. Mr and Mrs is fine I think, because we are Mrs's. My colleague uses Dr Maiden name, and Mrs Married name.
My sense is that people are uncomfortable with the issue - because i've also gotten Dr and Dr, and my husband is not a doctor.

Yeah, it is kind of awkward. Maybe I should write "Dear Abby" :p . That's pretty cute..."Dr. and Dr." People ask my dh all the time if he is planning on getting his doctorate. He always says, "No, I'm happy with people calling me 'Master'." ;) :p He's a funny guy. He says with great passion that he will never go back to school. He is DONE! :)

It's properly written "Dr. and Mr." Found out when we got married and had to send an invite to just such a couple. :) We get a lot of "Drs. him and me" (we are both docs).

Really? Dr. and Mr.? I'm not sure Mr. Dreamer would like that too much.

Dr and Dr? That's so funny! I mean if he was a doctor it would be cool, but otherwise its just funny :) Hubby and I had a good laugh over this when I read it. Honestly, unless its a formal invite I think Mr and Mrs. Parrot is just fine :) Maybe on a formal invite Mr. and Dr. (my aunt is a PhD and my uncle isn't and that's how we were told to address their invite to our wedding) I guess it depends what you want to be called. I'm not gonna have my kid's friends call me Dr. Parrot, but Mrs. I guess being a doctor is only part of who I want to be, and kids tend to get all weird if something like that is forced on them.
