ooops that didn't work right.

I have a plan B if I'm not to pursue (for whatever reasons) surgery and that is psychiatry. Surgery is very interesting to me. How is this field for an OLD female doc?

I am a third year surgical resident and mom to a 6-month old baby girl. I think it would be very difficult to be a "retired" surgeon or a disabled surgeon, as the reason that you go into surgery is that you like to operate! I'm sure transitioning into anything else would be hard for any surgeon.

If you are interested in surgery I always personally welcome questions and also refer you to the Association of Women Surgeons which has lots of resources for medical students, residents and practicing surgeons. I have met a lot of great women through this organization and have gotten a lot of great advice. Their website is www.womensurgeons.org, if you're interested check it out!
