Hi there, I'm not in IM but I am in northern CA (also with a husband in engineering - FWIW he is thinking of a job change and getting tons of interest so I don't drive yourself crazy worrying yet, companies are definitely hiring) and I am constantly getting emails from recruiters looking to fill locums spots. Goldfish locums, Vista staffing, BAS healthcare - there are scads of them. You could try MedMonster.com also which connects you to appropriate recruiters.

Agree with others. Locums. Urgent care maybe. At least you get back into clinical medicine (part-time even) so you'll have recent clinical work when you go for other jobs...
